Avadhuta Gita in 90 seconds

This Indian book that nobody knows about will blow your mind.

Here’s the tea.

The Avadhuta Gita - attributed to Dattatreya, who’s a combo avatar of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva - is one of the sharpest books on Advaita philosophy.

It's revered especially by the Nath yogis, who see Dattatreya as their original Guru.

The crazy idea it shares is that there is no "you." You're neither your body nor your mind, but Atman - the true Self - which is identical with Brahman, the universal consciousness.

You've just forgotten your true nature because you’re bound with Maya - the cosmic illusion that there is a universe at all.

Actually, the AG pushes this even further. It says even the idea that you're bound or that you need liberation is itself illusion - because you're already free. There's nowhere to go, nothing to chase. Your essence right now is Sat (existence), Chit (awareness), and Anand (bliss).

Pretty trippy, right?

The Avadhuta Gita’s has 3 very practical lessons:

First, all labels - caste, gender, sexuality, nationality - are mental illusions. They're not you. So let go of them.

Second, let go of desires and expectations; live life fully without clinging to anyone or anything. That’s how true peace is found.

Third, external gurus, meditations, chants can guide you, sure - but the ultimate Guru and realisation is always within you. So don’t depend & search within.

In fact, "Avadhuta" literally means someone who's shaken off every bodily limitation. It tells us to embrace this current, timeless Ultimate Reality - that’s already who we all truly are, the One True Super Soul - the Brahman.
