Sanātana Explained

Aliens in Hinduism

Aliens in Hinduism, do they exist? Yup & today you’re going to meet some of them! Here’s the tea…

First, Sanatan literature has enough indications to life in other worlds, more particularly in the 13 other lokas or realms in what is essentially our multiverse with infinite realities - whether that’s the Chandogya Upanishad’s 1st, 3rd, 5th & 8th chapters, or the Bhagavata Purana, or Krishna’s Srimad Bhagavad Gita itself.

But Gods we worship don’t fall in this because they are actually just symbollic reps of the top boss who has delegated functions to them - they do have real bodies & their stories but they actually maintain the universe & don’t just live somewhere in it.

What science calls “aliens” are spiritually advanced souls that have moved beyond humans or lower beings that have been pushed in those bodies because of their bad karma.

Up we have the Gandharvas & Apsaras who are dancers & musicians in the courts of demigods. They’re joined by Kinnaras who are half-horse, half-man & Charanas & poets.

Down, you have the Asuras which are actually siblings of the Devas & they’re depicted as bad in pop culture but that’s not the whole story, which I’ll cover tomorrow. We do have demonic Danavs, angry Pretas & flesh-eating Pisaaches, tho, which are the real baddies.

Third, you have forest spirits called Yakshas who protect treasures. And like the Watchers or Timekeepers in Marvel, You have Kaalakuta who ensure cosmic flow & order.

Near water bodies, you may meet Jaladevatas & dark-hooded serpant-like beings like Nagas who have access to our world & can give us blessings.

Last, we have a class of our ancestral Pitras (who are the equivalent of angels) & above them Rishis & Siddhas who sit close to the final level because of ages of their meditation & advanced spiritual practice.
