At a Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Jayanti event in Yavatmal, RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat said Dharma "does not merely mean rituals, worship or eating habits" and stands on four pillars: truth, compassion, austerity and purity. He tied this to Antyodaya, saying "the happier the last person in society is, the happier the country is".
Why it matters
The Sangh is presenting Dharma as ethics rather than observance in its centenary year.
GK: did you know?
Bhāgavata Purāṇa 1.17.24 names the four legs of Dharma as tapaḥ, śaucaṃ, dayā and satyam.
