Will you go to heaven & hell?
Do you think you’re going to heaven or hell after you die? It might be neither & here’s the tea.
In Sanatan Dharma, we’re not condemned to an eternal hell nor are we promised an eternal heaven.
At the end, there is only moksha i.e. freedom from the cycle of life & death by realising your Oneness or Connection with the Supreme Energy called as “the Brahman,” and our soul travels through different worlds or realms to get there.
Like a game of snakes & ladder, the karma we do gives us access to each of the realms & currently our location is the Bhuloka.
The Swarga or Swarloka you hear about on top of us, where demigods & Gods & other deities live with their beautiful dancing apsaras, gandharvas & other alien beings - that’s not the equivalent of heaven because even the people in that realm, although they’re pretty much partying all the time, are looking for spiritual freedom, which is not the same has happiness.
In fact, above Swar loka, you have more advanced worlds like Mahar, Tapa & Jana, where folks live for hundreds of thousands of years deep in meditation to reach the final destination called Satya Loka.
Below all these, we also have Pitraloka where our grandparents & other ancestors are watching over us.
But if we slip, we go through darker realms like Mahatala, Rasatala & Pataal lokas, which have demons, serpants & other dangerous beings aren’t technically hell because you can get out of them after you pay off your karmic debts.
There are countless other worlds like Goloka, Kailash, Pretaloka & Siddhaloka.
Even if you don’t buy it, it’s a good way to understand the levels of our conciousness or states of mind, with the lower realms representing our negative emotions. On the other hand, meditating + doing good karma can help us become more complete & climb higher in life.
All this is explained in the Garuda Purana, Vishnu Purana, Rigveda & Bhagvata Purana so just leave a comment if you want the English translations PDF.
