Who came first - Shiv or Vishnu?
Who exactly is the #1 - Bhrama, Vishnu or Shiv? The answer isn’t what you think & here’s the tea.
First you have to understand that the beauty of Hinduism is that it isn’t one religion - it has many different groups of people who all follow different faiths with the common goal of getting moksha or liberation by becoming one with God.
So God comes to us in different ways as per the energies we respond to, which is why you have Shavism (in which people believe Shiv is the main guy) & Vaishnavism or Bhagvatam (in which Vishnu came first & in that, too, he may also be the expansion of Krishna).
To know the facts, though, we have to go back to the Rigveda, which doesn’t mention any one God but does talk about 1 single primodial being, called the Bhraman. A desire or intention to create resulted in the creation of the universe.
So we got Space & Time, governed by Vishnu & Shiva, which is why he’s called Mahakala (or endless time).
Now time in Hinduism is cyclical meaning there are endless cycles of creation & desctruction happening & in each cycle you have multiple universes - so as per the multiverse theory, you have these 2 appearing in different forms & in different orders, sometimes Vishnu & sometimes Shiv … which is how the Puranas where we get our stories from, had different POVs on who came first because they were kinda written in different cycles of time - so Shiv Purana talks about Shiva & Bhagvatam literature often mentions Vishnu.
In simple words, both Vishnu & Shiv are #1 & they have always existed & rather than fighting amongst ourselves, what matters is we pray with a pure mindset & be kind to people around us.
Now in this, what’s the role of Bhrama & why does nobody ever worship him?
