Sanātana Explained

Vedic Astrology, simplified

If you thought that astrology & kundalis are fake, scams or superstition, you’re in for a shock when you get the science behind it.

First, you’re probably brainwashed to think that astrology is about knowing how your day or life will go so we become obsessed with it as it makes us think we can see the future.

But in Hindu vedangas, jyotish shastra is the study of how the nav graha or nine celestial bodies around the Earth exert certain energies on us & what we can do to minimize their effects or maximize the benefits of their vibrations.

A screenshot of where these nav grahas were, including Sun & Moon, at the time of your birth, in relation to Bhu Loka plane (which is Earth), is called your jamna kundali.

The reason this document is created at birth is because you haven’t yet done any karma or action yet in this body but your soul has carried over some exact balance of karma over your last life, which has an effect on when & where you were born.

Now because we know from the vedas & puranas which God governs what aspect of our lives, by looking at the 9 energies & their positions around you at that time, an educated jyotishi can give you tea about what you must’ve done in your past lives & how certain areas in your life might pan out depending on the residue of that karma - its about the potential you have.

As you do good karma in this body, meditate & do certain rituals to calm down the 9 energies - you can minimize & even cancel out their effects, so you still have complete free will & control over your life.

If you think Kundalis are fake or unscientific bullshit, nobody’s ever told you the logic & science behind it & here’s the tea.

Kundalis are a screenshot of where 9 main bodies called the nav-graha in space were when you were born - and since we have some idea of what part of our lives they govern, looking at their positions can tell us some things about the karma we did in past lives to be born at this specific place & time & how that karma might affect your future.

To make the map, our vedic astronomers divided the sky into 12 sectors of 30 degrees each because of the 12 main constellations they could spot around us in a circle - they’re called Mesh, Rishabh, Tula, etc.

This is different from Westen astrology which uses the Sun as a reference, resulting in Sun Signs.

Now once you place the grahs in these 12 sectors, you convert this circle into a square because its easier to draw freehand.

In this square, instead of writing the names of the 12 sectors, you write their numbers & then put the nav graha in the sectors along with their angles.

The top of the Kundali tells you your Lagna, which is your rising sign or first house, which is nothing but the constellation that was rising from the East horizon of the Earth at that time. And all the other sectors are then placed in anti-clockwise direction around this lagna because, from where we stand on Earth, it looks like the stars move from east to west in the sky so it’s matching that movement.

Finally, depending on which grah is in which sector, this gives you the 12 Bhavs, which can tell you how specific aspects of your life like marriage & death might happen because of the energies of the dominant bodies in that house.
