Four men from a faction of the Hindu Raksha Dal were arrested for a videotaped assault on CJP protesters on Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg on 10 October. Police said they acted on their own after the video went viral.

The faction's leader acknowledged on X that the men were his workers and was detained at his Ghaziabad home. CJP alleged that police guided the attackers, a claim that has not been verified.

Why it matters
