Sanātana Explained

Sanatani Heritage you’ll find worldwide!

Oh my God, the West basically accepted our Bharat as the champion of surgical science by installing this statue!

In case you missed the big news, a 90kg solid bronze statue of Maharishi Sushruta was unveiled at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) in Scotland, United Kingdom, on 19th June 2026.

Known as the Father of Surgery from 2,600 years ago, Sushruta documented over 300 surgical procedures, classified over 120 surgical instruments (including scalpels, forceps, and suturing needles), and outlined medical protocols for dissection and hygiene. He gave us plastic surgery, including a reconstructive rhinoplasty method for damaged noses, which is still used today!

And this is not the first time!

In 2004, at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland, they unveiled a towering 2-meter bronze statue of Shiva in his Nataraja form, performing the Tandava dance.

The idea was to honor his role in the continuous cycle of creation and destruction (Shrishti and Samhara), which perfectly mirrors the dynamic subatomic particle collisions observed inside CERN's particle accelerators.

Thirdly, our Ma Saraswati sits in Washington D.C. Her 16-foot marble and gold-leaf statue was inaugurated in 2014 outside the Embassy of Indonesia on Massachusetts Avenue (called Embassy Row), with students at her feet representing the pursuit of education and knowledge.

Fourthly, in 2018, a 121-meter copper and brass structure of Vishnu riding Garuda, named “Garuda Wisnu Kencana,” was inaugurated in Badung, Bali, depicting an episode from the Samudra Manthan story - and it is the tallest statue in Indonesia.

Fun fact: Garuda, locally called Khrut, sits on the official National Emblem of Thailand since 1911. Thailand also has the largest sitting Ganesha statue outside India at one of its international parks.

And I am not done yet: A 90-foot tall Hanuman sits as the Statue of Union in Houston, Texas, since 2024, symbolizing his selflessness, devotion, strength, and role in building Sri Ram’s Setu.

So why are we discussing this? Because it is a pattern. The world is not only waking up to our Sanatan Dharma’s glory but starting to see its foundational role in shaping world history.

So why do we act embarrassed about our Hindu identity? We should be proudly claiming it.
