For this, you have to go back to ancient India, when the two Sanskrit words "su" i.e. good & "asti" i.e. exists, were combined to form the swastika, a symbol that in Hinduism, stood for the 4 Holy Vedas & also the 4 yugas i.e. phases of the world's timeline - BTW, we are in the 4th yuga i.e. Kali Yuga.

In Jainism, this symbol took the meaning of their 7th Tirthankara & also the eternal cycle of life, while for Buddhists, it represents Buddha's heart & footprints.
